However, what makes Chopta quite a popular travel place in Uttarakhand is the fact that it is the base point of the famous and sacred temple of Tungnath, which by the way is the highest Shiva Temple in India.

PLACES TO VISIT IN CHOPTA

TUNGNATH TEMPLE:

Situated at the height of 3680 m, Tungnath it is the highest temple of Lord Shiva in India. Tungnath is one of the Panch Kedars and is the shrine where Shiva's arm is worshipped. This is a place for Hindu devotees but those who enjoy trekking can also come here.


CHANDRASHILA:

Located at a dizzying altitude of 4020 m, Chandrashila can be reached after 1 km of a trek from the Tungnath. This place has a stunning view of the gigantic Himalayan Peaks including, Nanda Devi, Trishul, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba..


DEORIATAL:

Deoriatal is situated on the Ukhimath-Chopta road.It is a high altitude lake that can only be reached taking an uphill trek of about 3 km from the villages of Mastura and Sari. Camping here is an amazing experience.
