RUDRANATH

Rudranath clutches a special importance in the heart of Lord Shiva’s devotees. Amongst the ‘Panch Kedar’ (Rudranath, Kedarnath, Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar) Rudranath is a far-flung temple situated in Garhwal region in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. The place is surrounded by the lofty Garhwal Himalayan Mountains and is located at an elevation of 3600 m. It is said that this important Hindu shrine was built in 8th Century AD and is said to shelter the face of Lord Shiva. Whereas, other parts of his bull incarnation like the hump, is in Kedarnath; arms in Tungnath, navel, and stomach are in Madhyamaheshwar and the hair and head in Kalpeshwar. Trekkers have to trudge through an arduous trek that can only take them to his pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand.

RUDRANATH TEMPLE:

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the third amongst the ‘Panch Kedar.’ You will have to cover the distance of around 23 km through trekking to reach here. Not limited to this, the temple is bounded with Surya Kund, Chandra Kund, Tara Kund, and Manas Kund which are the major attractions in Rudranath.


MADHYAMAHESHWAR TEMPLE:

This temple is amongst the Panch Kedar. It is where Lord Shiva’s navel is worshipped. It is situated at a height of 3289 m. The temple also has some nearby attractions for tourists, Kali temple is one amongst them. Moreover, a sight of peaks like; Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, and Neelkanth can be enjoyed from here.


KALPESHWAR:

Lord Shiva’s hair is worshiped at Kalpeshwar Temple and is one of those Panch Kedar. The temple is situated at a short distance from Rudranath.


NANDIKUND:

It is believed that Nandikund is the lake from where Lord Shiva’s Nandi bull used to drink water. Thus, this lake is devoted to Lord Shiva. The water of this lake is enormously cold. Moreover, the lake also feeds the Madhyamaheshwar Ganga and reflects the Chaukhamba peak.


PANAR BUGYAL:

At this place, you will get to see the exquisiteness of a meadow, which is flower-strewn. Moreover, one can also visit the nearby temples and waterfall.


PITRADHAR:

The place is located at an altitude of 4000 m above the sea level. Here you will witness the beautiful view of a valley and cliffs with asymmetrical rocks.
